This page lists the Hyperliquid rules that apply to builder fees on every DEX, no matter which plan you run.

Spot-style builder fee cap 1% (100 bp) per fill Includes outcome markets

Approval values per builder code 1 A new approval replaces the old maximum

Approvals

A trader signs one approval with their main wallet before their first trade. The approval names a maximum builder fee for your builder code. Your DEX charges the lower of your fee and the trader’s approved maximum. Approvals are staged. A trader approves the perps maximum first, then the outcome markets maximum on their first outcome markets trade.

Raising your fee above a trader’s approved maximum asks that trader to approve once, on their next visit. Lowering your fee never asks for a new approval. Until a trader re-approves, they pay the old maximum.

What changes at activation

Activation gives your DEX a new builder code. Each returning trader approves the new builder code once, with one signature and no gas. The approval dialog on your DEX explains the change. Nothing else changes for traders.

Caps are enforced on save

The console rejects a fee above Hyperliquid’s cap when you save it.

Payouts use recorded fees

Payouts are computed from the fees actually recorded on fills, not from the rate you set.
